Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

We have lost arguably the greatest social commentator and humorists of our time! I grew up on George Carlin. He spoke about and gave his opinions about things most people wouldn't. He challeged everything sacred, unproven and believe based and I loved every minute of it. He made you look at things in a different way and I respected that. Most importantly, I laughed my ass off at it. He made me laugh until it hurt. You will be missed George!!

GEorGe CarLin we will miss you

I wonder if he did anything interesting in his last moments to make the staff crack up?
He did mention something along those lines in his life..
I did swallow pennies when i was 6 yrs old to leave for the forensic crew that would be investigating me after i croaked .. but alas stomach acid and a trip to the hospital and emergency seargery stopped my future endowment to science.
i still like the blood gore guts violence scheme of executions in this country of ours..
His plan was to use the guillotine and televise it as the head (once severed) rolled down and chute and would end up in one of three baskets
wonderful nod to american ingenuity using what one has available ie.. violence and greed never had it so good,
tis a sorry state we now enter in with kurt Vonnegut gone also, norman Mailer, gone
Miss yah george you hippie dippy weather dude.
No one stands a candle to his investigative insights on language, words, and culture.
    Missed beyond words ,,

I just read this article (a little late)

As much as I love Carlin ... I am pretty sure the author got him and Gallagher mixed up. (Didn't he do the joke about driving on a parkway etc. ?

And he would give anything in this world, even trade place with lowest beggar just to have chance to repent of the mockeries he slurred at the LORD, and His Name! It is a sad day that this society has fallen so low to idolize and speak so well of person who had such foul mouth, and spewed mockeriesto about the LORD. He its to be pitied, not celebrated and glorified...There is no fear of God in people's hearts. The "freedom", personal liberty, the cult of individualism, material abundance... all those things have twisted their minds and blinded their hearts. But GOD, in whom all things consist and who is the LORD of all that exists WILL HAVE THE LAST WORD.

            May He bless you too!

For crying OUT LOUD... I belive it is written "judge not lest ye be judged" and "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone..." Now, since I have serious doubts that either of you is either Jesus or the Virgin Mary... I don't believe EITHER of you are qualified to judge what GOD'S decision would be... Whatever happened to tact? You know the old adage of "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you?" Would you want others condeming you after YOUR death based on what others conceived as mortal sins that YOU had commited? I think not! My only advice is get a life, or at least get laid, and pull the broomhandles out of your butts!

Pappa Nick, I'm not condemning his life. I'm sure had a great life. The thing I question is his speaking
against his disbelief again the Lord. This is a personal decision and should not be used as
a taboo tool to get people to laugh. Many laugh out of shock. Hence the "shock factor" that we have all tagged Howard Stern with. He used it as ofter as he could to dispense poison to the name of the Lord. Below are the rest of the answers to your statements. I hope that you were seeking answers, not just attacking.

"judge not lest ye be judged"? Christians are often accused of "judging" whenever they speak out against a sinful activity. However, that is not the meaning of the Scripture verses that state, "Do not judge." There is a righteous kind of judgment we are supposed to exercise—with careful discernment (John 7:24). When Jesus told us not to judge (Matthew 7:1), He was telling us not to judge hypocritically. Matthew 7:2-5 declares, "For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." What Jesus was condemning here was hypocritical, self-righteous judgments of others.

The existence of God cannot be proven or disproved. The Bible even says that we must accept by faith the fact that God exists, "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him" (Hebrews 11:6). If God so desired, He could simply appear and prove to the whole world that He exists. But if He did that, there would be no need for faith. "Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed" (John 20:29).
              And,
God could convert everyone using a blinding light and the voice of Christ as He did with the apostle Paul. Instead, He gives Christians the mission of reconciliation (Acts 1:8-9). He works through us, calling sinners to turn to Christ in repentance and faith.

Again, I'm speaking on behalf of these sins, not any others he may have had. Those are different demons all together. GOD BLESS!

Can't you understand that all of that only applies to people who believe in what you believe? To pronounce that it applies to everyone else, and that they should live that way, IS judging.

Yes, but he doesn't so stop judging his actions by it. Or if you do, keep it to yourself because it is irrelevant to George.

And yet you continue to judge in the name of Christianity... it's holier-than-thous like you that embarrass other christians... myself included! You spout excerpts from the Bible, you judge and chastise others without the true christian spirit of looking within yourself (as the verse you misrepresent intended.) Then you proceed in name-calling when someone disagrees with you. Actually dungbeetle made a very valid point, that all your preaching and (false) prophesying have nothing to do with George Carlin, in fact, I'm sure he's up there laughing hysterically, because YOU are making his point valid and yet you are too thick to realize it... George may have been many things, but he actually was a spiritual man, but he didn't believe in blindly following any organized religion, or any self-proclaimed prophet (such as yourself) regardless whether you refer to the Great Creator as Jehovah, Yahweh, Allah, Buddha, or just simply God. I think that we have given you and the other nut-job zealots FAR more than enough attention, and my suggestion to others would be to simply ignore you from now on, as I fully intend to.

But I want you to know something, this is sincere, I want you to know, when it comes to believing in God, I really tried. I really, really tried. I tried to believe that there is a God, who created each of us in His own image and likeness, loves us very much, and keeps a close eye on things. I really tried to believe that, but I gotta tell you, the longer you live, the more you look around, the more you realize, something is @!$%#ed up.

I grew up listening to his routines and remember his fondly on Saturday Night Live. Now that I have children, primarily boys, we were blessed to listen to him in the Thomas the Train narration, finding him the best one to do it in our opinion. I hope Pixar remembers to do a dedication to him in their next film, as they have for other actors. Forever Filmore, George. We know you are up in Heaven hooping it up with Richard saying all the words you want.

Sorry ya'll can't find common ground in a shared interest but hate me because of my beliefs. I believe that's called prejudice, bigotry, intolerance, hate and all of those words that have been tossed at all the other people of faith who have simply exercised their freedom of speech... something that Carlin fought for.
